:: In Forever Loving Memory ::
A little baby girl was born on a spring/summer day. However just hours after she's born, the doctor diagnosed her to be born with spina bifida, given the bump on her back. Unequipped furnishly with medical equipments and knowledge, the baby was brought to our island for operations.
With about 3 days old, the little princess fought her first battle. Lying comfortably in her cot, the little fighter just had her operation done. The wound was covered on her back and therefore she had to lay on her front. Complications do comes along. She was diagnosed with hydrocephalus a few days later as her little head starts to grew seemingly swollen. Another operation was on the way to help relieve her uneasiness.
The round buldging wound was covered up, somewhere slightly above behind the ear. The exhausted princess slept in her cot after the 2nd operation. Touching the little tube embedded, running down behind her ear, from her brain to her stomach, it's delighted to know the advancement and miracle of medical technology.
As she stepped into her months of life, her large bright eyes and her long lashes that flutter as she was teased, will tell you she's just a little innocent child. However the hurdle appeared again. She did not have a straight pair of legs. Her two little feet will turn inwards unvoluntarily. While her sister could walked when she's less than a year old, she could not gain control of her legs.
Never mind the attractions from ignorant passerbys, brought about by her scar on her head, that innocent heart of hers just want to play throughout her childhood, just like any other child.
When she knew how to throw tantrum, she used it whenever her mum puts on the specially made boots for her. She do not like it as it's hot, stiff and stuffy. She wanted to crawl freely around the living room.
Never compare her with other kids of her age. Kids her age have learnt how to run and speak in proper sentences. She knew how to win praises for herself. She'll asked if her clothes is nice after given a bath. She'll cling onto you and lay on your shoulder as if asking pamperedly for a tight hug. She'll giggle just by sitting there and watching her sisters running, playing about. She'll scold and beat the floor if she fell.
There are more problems to come for the little fighter. In time to come, she'll have to face the aspects of life, the growing up trouble, the skyhigh medical expenses, etc.
However, the little fighter had her last battle early morning on the 07.07.2005. Perhaps we should thank God for saving her from the forthcoming problems.
She is my beloved little cousin princess, Lasti aka Cerrin.
