"All songs are nice." That might be my typical review, people might think.
*waves index finger* Not really.
1) I hate the album cover. I'm not putting it as the album cover in my iTunes. So, I cut up all other relevant images and replaced it.
Different pictures for different genre.
I think I developed a hobby of adding pictures to my iTunes according to how it's potrayed.
And here we go
Track 1 - 龍戰騎士: Like the vocal, the arrangements, the rockish feel. Anyone wants to bet their $5 with me that this will be the opening song for his next concert tour? Anyone, anyone?
Track 2 - 給我一首歌的時間: 1st impression is that it sucks. As mentioned for the MV preview. MV looks like its Ben Cao Gang Mu revisited. (And that hotel is the same as Hana Yori Dango Movie!) Watch Jay with his bling blings, gangsta look. 2nd impression not too bad. Nice R&B to pop along. Tho the vocal is weak and bad. Last part rap also... >.<
Track 3 - 蛇舞: The 1st thing come to my mind in the intro is "Indie? Indo?" Continues to be indie into the chorus and whole song. Lara's addition is nice. Jay's rap is quick, messy and definitely cool. Interestingly, I like it.
Track 4 - 花海: Funny how he is famous for slurring but in this, it's too much that it sounds lazy and it's as though he record this while lying drunk on the sofa in the 1st verse. Chorus sounds okay but I swear at one point he want to try some fraying new note and it sounds SO bad. It sounds irritating he's doing that fake fraying sound again at the end. It didn't fulfil the usual hit mid tempo song he's famous for, since Qing tian. I don't fancy this song, for now.
Track 5 - 魔術先生: G-power's intro is getting more and more elaborate. This song is like Niu Zai Hen Mang Part II and he's not afraid of showing that it's part II cause he even sang parts of the song and yee haa-ing throughout. Is he addicted to cute songs? LOL. But it's an interesting song. 選我選我!!
Track 6 - 說好的幸福呢: The minute the intro is out, you'll go 'Aww~' and you will know it's the super J formulated ballad hit. Well, it'll be the KTV hit in a week's time.
Track 7 - 蘭亭序: Chinese instrumental song is up next. And my god, after Qing hua ci, he has come up with another cheem song. But it doesnt have that 'tone down' feel QHC had. It sounds very Beijing opera. And all the tongue twisting lyrics and rythmn... 'Nuff said.
Track 8 - 流浪詩人: I . Love . This . Song.
I always like this kind of blues-jazzy song. It sounds hokkien-song tempo at some time as well. People might think Jay didn't get enough of his cowboy stint but who cares. It's a great song and collab with Gary?! Oh my, it's greatest surprise. Gary is a pretty good composer ever since NQMM 1st album. Most of my fav songs of theirs comes from his works. "你坐火車 忔恰忔恰 返來阮這..."
Track 9 - 時光機: Fall into the world of Doraemon. This is the kind of guitar based composition that's my hit. Think it'll be my ktv song soon.
Track 10 - 喬克叔叔: 喬克? Yes, Joker. This is one Interesting song. Interesting arrangement. This is called "playing around with music". Not your typical clown song.
Track 11 - 稻香: After travel around the world of his new circus world, return to basics with this song. It's a good idea to place this as the last song. It's like fresh air. lol. I think his album-marketing concept nowadays is to throw out the most basic song of the whole album and made it as the 1st single released. Then when you get the album, you'll go, "wha~ so different."
One word for the whole album: Interesting.
