Thanks to my corneal ulcers, I had a taste of the A & E procedures and the infamous paper procedures of these medical places. When I was there at the both places, I was recalling at the back of my mind, the stuffs I've learnt in Biomed informations. On how they reduced the paperworkd and using programmes to reduce it. From ordering drugs, prescriptions to informations captures and information relay.
But still, there are lots of papers or I could say waste of papers. There are so many printouts and stuffs. From today's visit, I had 3 waiting numbers papers. Registration's, consultation's and prescription's. The procedures are a spiderweb kind of messy also. If I'm 80yrs old, I think I will get lost in it.
In A & E,
1) Chk temperature upon arriving, fill up a small note for contract tracing.
2) Registration at counter (Lots of papers printed out)
3) Placed my own patient's file at Triage's inbox
4) Wait for name to be called.
5) BP, heart rate check by nurse at Triage
6) Took number for consultation
1.5hrs passed by.......
7) Finally, name called and saw a trying-to-be-funny doc, who says he didnt threw his contact lens away. Funny. Told that I had white spots and an eye doc will see me.
(At this point, I cursed that GP at the rivervale plaza clinic who cant even see the spots. Koo Koo.)
8) Wait again for name to be called.
1hr passed by......
9) Half-saw my eye doc. (Cause my left eye is blurred.) Checked and checked and teared. Thanks to the lamp. Told that I got 4 ulcers, on its way to recovery. To review on friday.
10) Waited outside for 0.5hr and saw that 1st doc talking to an uncle in his broken chinese. lol.
11) Got my prescription, submit my prescription and had to pay first.
12) Collect my prescription and bye bye~~~~
And so a few days later, just to confirm, I called eye centre to ask bout the appt. I told them about my doc's name and she goes, "No, there's no such doctor here." I was like, huh, okay... She said it's the M.O. for SGH, and the appt is being made. So I said okay, fine. And I wonder who that koo koo doc is.
Is he even an eye doc?
Then today I went and amazed by the numerous amount of tv screens showing multiples numbers for patients where almost all of them are there due to eye problems. How ironic. Again, I went through the numerous number takings. But its a lot faster than A & E. After evalution on my eye power and pressure, my name was called.
Eh? Wasnt him the same doc? Cause that time he was covered up with face mask.
"So isit still blur? Any better?" He asked.
Confirm it's him loh.
Apparently, I think he's new. He double checked my status with an older doc and the doc came and looked at me with my yellow-dyed eye and said, "Ya, should be well soon." Okay, cool.
So once again, I was given lubricating drops and when I was making payment, the cashier girl was mumbling with the next cashier in malay. Saying something about boy or girl. Then she asked me, "Dr Jay, male or female?" I replied, Guy. Then they were like oh oh oh...
And I was thinking... He IS new. So new that the telephone operator dunno who is he and even the cashier also dunno... okay, fine. I don't know who are the new teachers at my place either. Aftewhich I left the place and not forgetting the ferrari I saw at the carpark.
Opthalmologists are damn rich and I have a massive chunk of papers/rubbish in my bag.
